The Grand Massif is an exceptionally picturesque area in Haute-Savoie, within easy reach of Geneva airport. Approximately 50 minutes by road from the airport is the village of Morillon, with Verchaix just across the river on the opposite side of the Giffre Valley. A little further up the valley is the town of Samoens, listed as a "Monument Historique" and really brimming with Alpine charm. At the top of the valley is the lovely village of Sixt Fer à Cheval, known as one of the prettiest villages in the Alps. The "Cascade du Rouget" waterfall, not far from Sixt, is especially impressive. Flaine and Les Carroz complete the Grand Massif area.

With years of experience as an Estate Agent in the region, Les Chênets Immobilier can help you find that perfect property in Samoens, Morillon, Taninges, Verchaix, Sixt Fer à Cheval and the whole of the Grand Massif. This is a superb region for both summer and winter activities and hence an excellent location for a holiday home or permanent residence. Chalets and apartments have good rental potential in summer as well as winter months.

In summer, take advantage of the clean mountain air to go walking, climbing, hiking, cycling or just relax and enjoy the spectacular views this area has to offer. The "Lac Bleu" recreational park situated right in the centre of Morillon is perfect for a multitude of activities for all ages, including fishing, swimming, tennis, horse riding, mini-golf and petanque. There's plenty to do for the entire family. You could even have a go at rafting on the Giffre River. The Jaÿsinia alpine botanical garden in the heart of Samoens is a real gem, and not what you would expect to find in the midst of a ski resort!

In winter, the extensive skiing (265kms of linked pistes) offers plenty of variety for skiers of all levels. Fabulous views of Mont Blanc can be enjoyed from many pistes, but one of the best is from the top of the Grandes Platières cable car (2,480 m) above Flaine. Plenty of cross-country skiing is available too, both in the Giffre Valley itself and up on the Col de Joux Plane at an altitude of 1,700 m.

Not only is the Grand Massif less than an hour from Geneva, it is just a short distance away from other popular resorts such as Les Gets, Morzine and Chamonix. In summer, Morzine can be reached via the spectacular mountain road over the Col de Joux Plane, with breathtaking views down onto the Giffre Valley and across to Mont Blanc. This road is closed in winter, apart from access to the cross-country skiing area from the Samoens direction.
